Two mosquito pools found southeast of Grayson earlier this month tested positive for West Nile virus, county health officials learned Friday.

Meanwhile, mosquito abatement districts have found 13 infected dead birds countywide, and nearby counties are already dealing with human cases this year.

“We would be very surprised if we didn’t see confirmed human cases in Stanislaus County very soon,” said David Jones, spokesman for the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency, on Monday.

Jones and others are urging people to take precautions for the disease as a result.
